How to market your online store for free

· 3 min read

In short

Post short videos on TikTok and Instagram, show behind-the-scenes clips such as packing orders, set up a free Google Business Profile, join Facebook groups in your area, and ask happy customers to share. All of it is free; it only takes time.

1. Post short videos on TikTok and Instagram

Short videos reach people who do not follow you yet. Show the product in use, a quick try-on or a before-and-after. Keep them short, show the product in the first two seconds, and post often.

Post the same video on TikTok, Instagram Reels and Facebook Reels. One video, three chances to be seen.

2. Show what happens behind the scenes

People love to see a real business at work. Film yourself packing orders, wrapping a parcel or opening new stock. These videos build trust, because they show there is a real person and a real business behind the page.

3. Set up a Google Business Profile

A free Google Business Profile puts your business on Google Search and Maps. It is very useful for getting orders from people in your own area. Add your photos, your phone number, your store link and your opening hours, and ask customers for Google reviews.

4. Join Facebook groups in your area

Many towns have buy-and-sell and community groups. Join them, follow each group's rules, and share your products there. Be helpful, not pushy: answer questions and post good photos.

5. Turn happy customers into your marketing

Ask happy customers to post a photo or tag your page. Share their posts and reviews on your story. A real customer's photo is more convincing than any advert.

6. Use your WhatsApp status

Your past customers already have your number. Post new arrivals and restocks on your WhatsApp status. It is free, and it reaches people who have bought from you before.

7. Be consistent

Free marketing works when you do it every week. Pick two or three of these ideas and keep doing them, instead of trying everything once.
